New Business

·         Annual Pea Pod award:  Two exceptional EAT volunteers were honored at this yearly planning meeting—Michel Wiman for all her work on the beautifully produced EAT Seasonally Calendar and on the Farm to Table Workshop plus networking session; and Rich Colson for his keeping EAT accounts in the black and volunteering for the Farm to Table Workshop, networking session, and all the remodeling of the new Sustainability Center building.  Past awardees were Angela and JoEllen.

·         Working Group: A new secretary is needed as Angela Schaub is now stepping down.  Any interested individuals (responsible for minutes) please contact Joan Qazi.

·         Seasonal Kitchen:  New catering business by Amy Simonson and Tony Davis intending to host local food dinners in Wenatchee and on-farm meals highlighting particular seasonal dishes or a particular farm.  These would be sit-down three course meals prepared in the commercial kitchen.  Would like to host first dinner now so if you know of a business, service agency, or non-profit group planning a dinner meeting, please contact Amy or Tony right away.  EAT’s local food lunch that releases the CFA report to city and county leaders would be another likely client.

Committee Reports

·         School Gardens:  Angela reports that 15 classes from Newbery Elementary participated in the 3rd Annual WVC Greenhouse Field Trip.  Sleepyhollow Nursery donated all the needed plastic pots for the kids to use.  Mrs. Brooks 3rd grade class sent the thank you.  Foothills Middle School, Newbery and Sunnyslope Elementary had their spring clean up and the beds are now ready for planting.  They will be planting their starts next week.  There is a composting project at the middle school garden using the salad bar waste.

·         Community Gardens  Barn Beach Reserve in Leavenworth is planning a community garden at its site.

Follow-up on Topic(s) that were discussed in this meeting:

Very important that everyone take a look at the attached action plan documents and add your name where you will be helping out, then email back to Joan.  If EAT is to be sustained as an all-volunteer grassroots group, then we need the volunteer help for the projects.  If you want these projects to continue, then please show your commitment.
